Money Saving Tips and More....

Florida residents, did you know? Hurricane season began June 1st and lasts for six months until November 30th. The peak of the season is August through October, but you should be prepared by now for the possibility of a storm landing in our area at any time during the season. With hurricanes, we normally get some time to prepare thanks to the storm tracking systems in place. However, as any Florida resident who has experienced these storms knows, waiting until the last minute to prepare can cause headaches!

So before the storms start brewing out there, do a few things now so that you do not have to deal with long lines and shortage of supplies! Here's just a few tips:

  • Clean and save some empty plastic jugs to fill with water.
  • Write down emergency numbers and any contacts you will need on paper in case we lose internet/cell phone/electricity.
  • Inventory your possessions - take pictures and make a file.
  • Make sure your insurance policies are up to date.
  • Make a hurricane preparedness kit.
  • Make a plan in case you have to evacuate (and don't forget your pet's plan).

Let's hope for a quiet storm season, but prepared and stay safe!
